Cancer Research UK – Race for Life

Originally envisioned as an all-female race, for the first time in its history it welcomed male participants last year. In a series of events participants run, jog or walk various courses: 5-kilometre, 10-kilometre or the ‘Pretty Muddy’ course.

Macmillan Cancer Support – World’s Biggest Coffee Morning

Held since 1990, Macmillan’s fundraising Coffee Morning now regularly raises well over £25 million. Since 2010, M&S have supported and contributed to the charity’s now iconic fundraiser.

 

Walk the Walk – Moonwalk

First occurring in 1998, the night-time charity walk involves participants wearing brightly coloured and decorated bras. Participants speed walk either a full-marathon or half-marathon, in aid of breast cancer charity Walk the Walk.

Macmillan Cancer Support – Brave the Shave

In solidarity with chemotherapy patients suffering hair loss, Macmillan’s Brave the Shave campaign is a popular and substantial fundraiser. In the eleven days since the beginning of the year, 124 participants have already had their heads shaved and raised £7,465 pounds.

 

Alzheimer’s Society – Memory Walk

Featuring a series of walks in which all ages are invited to participate, the Alzheimer’s Society’s Memory Walks comprise courses ranging between 2 and 10 kilometres. This year’s events are scheduled to be held during September and October, in various locations across the UK.

The Movember Foundation – Movember

The Movember Foundation pledges to “change the face of men’s health.” Held during November, the Movember fundraiser requires participants to grow and groom a moustache for the whole month.

 

Cancer Research UK – Shine Night Walk

Another popular night-time walking event, the Cancer Research fundraiser comprises a series of events that take place across various locations. Welcoming all ages and abilities, the walk offers 5km and 10km options to participants.

Macmillan Cancer Support – Go Sober October

Go Sober October challenges participants to generate sponsorship for going alcohol-free for the entire month of October. The popular event is responsible for raising millions for Macmillan.
